For Patients

Commitment to Pediatrics

Children with complex ear and hearing disorders benefit from physicians whose entire practice is devoted to the ear. As neurotologists, we care for patients across the full lifespan, from newborns to older adults, and treat the most challenging conditions affecting hearing, balance, the facial nerve, and the structures of the ear and skull base.

This lifespan perspective offers a distinct advantage. Because many new hearing technologies and implantable devices are first evaluated and introduced in adults, our experience with these advances often begins well before they become widely available for children. At the same time, caring for children gives us a deep understanding of the neurodevelopmental, communication, educational, and family considerations that make pediatric hearing care fundamentally different from adult care.

For children requiring surgery, we provide this highly specialized ear expertise within a tertiary pediatric hospital, working alongside pediatric anesthesiologists and other pediatric specialists. The result is care that combines advanced neurotology with the comprehensive support and safety of a dedicated children’s hospital.

Our pediatric audiologists provide the same developmentally focused care throughout each child’s journey. Hearing testing is tailored to the child’s age and developmental stage because evaluating an infant is very different from evaluating a toddler, school-aged child, teenager, or young adult. Hearing aids and other devices are individually fitted and carefully verified to ensure appropriate access to speech and confirm that the technology is meeting the child’s needs. As each child grows, we continue to reassess hearing, listening needs, and device benefit so that their technology remains appropriate for every stage of development.
